About Us
‘Growing in love, Christ-centred faith and service’
God calls us and gives us grace to use the gifts God has given us. To grow as a loving, welcoming and Christ-centred people, faithful in worship, rejoicing in our differences, open to the gifts of the Spirit and working as God’s servants in our communities. We will shoulder these responsibilities together, from clergy and leaders, through vestries, to every member of the congregation.
We are a congregation that gathers together each week from West Linton and surrounding villages, to worship God in our beautiful church. Our congregation is a mix of people from different Christian traditions who have found a home in the Scottish Episcopal Church in West Linton. Whilst our main Sunday service sits within the liturgical tradition of the Scottish Episcopal Church, we also enjoy influences from other traditions. We seek to recognise and meet the needs of people who experience God and the Holy Spirit in different ways, from a more evangelical and expressive form of worship to those who prefer a more contemplative style.
Our services of Holy Communion each Sunday are normally led by a priest, with support from a Lay Reader and members of the congregation.
Each Sunday, for children we hold a ‘Kingdom Kids‘ session in our undercroft during the first part of our service. If children do not wish to take part in Kingdom Kids, they are more than welcome to remain in church. We have a box of toys in church if children wish to explore and play with them. The children who participate in Kingdom Kids join us for Holy Communion. Normally, on the third Sunday of the month we hold a service specifically focussed on all-age participation.
Members of the congregation regularly take part in the service, including reading scripture and leading the prayers of the people.
We value time together over tea and coffee after our Sunday morning service. Normally after the service on the fourth Sunday of each month we share a brunch together and raise funds for a good cause.
St Mungo’s is more than Sunday morning worship. We offer other activities and services, currently online. You can find details here.
If you have any questions, please speak to a member of the ministry team or any member of the congregation about our services. We welcome enquiries about baptism, confirmation and affirmation of faith, weddings, and officiating at funerals. Our priest is licensed to solemnise same-sex marriages, but not currently within this church.
