Regular Services

There are many opportunities to worship through our offering of services at St Mungo’s.  Most of our services follow liturgy from the Scottish Episcopal Church.

1st, 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month:

10.30 am:  Holy Communion (currently in church and on Zoom).  This service normally follows the Scottish Episcopal Church 1982 liturgy and includes music, readings, a sermon, and communion and lasts about an hour.  Refreshments after the service are offered in the undercroft.

2nd Sunday of the month at 5.00 pm: A service in the style of Taizé. This is a service of singing simple chants, a time for reflection and prayer, and a time of silence. 3rd Sunday of the month:

09.00 am Said Holy Communion service,

09.45 am Refreshments for congregation at end of the service and for those arriving before the 10.30 am service.

10.30 am Service of the Word. A service of prayer, song, scripture and a sermon.

Morning Prayer (Monday to Friday):

9.00 am Monday to Friday (currently on Zoom).  This services follows the Scottish Episcopal Church Morning prayer liturgy and  lasts about 30 minutes.

Evening Prayer (Monday to Friday):

5.30 pm  (currently on Zoom)  This services follows the Scottish Episcopal Church Evening prayer liturgy and  lasts about 30 minutes.

Wednesday evening:

7.30 pm on Zoom:

  • 1st Wednesday of the month: Service of Prayers for Healing (all prayer requests to go by email to Marion Mather).  Lasts about 40 Minutes

9.00 pm on Zoom: 

We hold a service of Compline (derived from the last service of the day in a monastery, after which the brothers would go in silence to their dormitory to sleep) using the 1929 Scottish Prayer Book Liturgy)  It lasts about 15 minutes.

1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at lunchtime:

12.30 noon: Mid-week said Holy Communion.

This service is a said service that normally follows the 1982 liturgy and includes readings, a brief reflection, and communion and lasts about 40 minutes.
